
Agropur acquires Quebec dairy co-op

Longueuil, Que. – Dairy co-operative Agropur has purchased St-Damase, Que.-based Fromagerie Damafro.
The family-owned company employs 195 people, and produces fresh milk cheeses and Greek yogurt under brands such as Brie Snack, P’tit Connaisseur and Le Manoir. Fromagerie Damafro also produces goat cheeses such as Chevre des Alpes and Le Chevre Noir.
The cheesemaker will join Agropur’s fine cheese and ingredients division.
“This acquisition strengthens Agropur’s leading position in the production and marketing of fine cheese in Canada,” says Agropur CEO Robert Coallier. “We will be able to offer our customers an even wider selection and continue innovating in the fine cheese sector.”
