Lipman Family Farms' acquisition of Huron Produce Ltd. is a "win-win transaction" as both companies can offer more to their customers
Exeter, Ont. – A company based in Florida has acquired Ontario’s Huron Produce Ltd.
In a statement from Lipman Family Farms, the company’s COO, Darren Micelle, says “the addition of Huron gives us extraordinary product depth, expands our collective capabilities and broadens our distribution footprint, allowing us to better serve our customers…”
Lipman, which was established in the 1930s, is one of the largest open field tomato growers in North America.
Huron Produce is a greenhouse grower and distributor of tomatoes and vegetables with operations in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. The company packs its products under the Suntastic brand.
The acquisition, says the statement, allows Lipman to now offer its customers hothouse tomatoes, vegetables and field grown tomatoes all year. Likewise, Huron Produce can now offer its customers field grown product.
As part of the acquisition, Lipman says it plans to expand its operations with new facilities in Canada, Nebraska, a second location in Denver and a warehouse in McAllen , Texas. The acquisition is expected to close in April 2018.
