Nova Scotia pie producer expanding operations

Kentville, N.S. – Apple Valley Foods Inc. will receive $2.5 million of federal funding and $1 million in provincial funding towards its $10-million modernization initiative.

The funding will help Apple Valley Foods to purchase new production line equipment, a new oven, packaging equipment and freezers, all of which will allow it to increase efficiency. It will also allow the company to purchase more apples and berries, and double its pie production.

The Kentville-based company is one of Canada’s largest pie producers, with sales in both Canada and the U.S. It has 160 full-time workers.
