April 21, 2020, Vancouver, B.C. – Food-X Technologies, a leading scalable, end-to-end software solution for the e-grocery market, has received funding from the Digital Technology Supercluster to lead a collaboration of prominent companies, including Spud, Adaptech, 1QBit, ETG and Microsoft, to develop an e-grocery management system for the B.C. provincial government and health authorities.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government and B.C.’s health authorities are taking critical steps to keep communities safe and essential workers supported, the company says, and the critical need to get fresh, high-quality groceries to essential workers, non-pandemic patients and citizens in quarantine requires the highest level of efficiency from farm to table.

“In this unprecedented challenge to our communities, we are pleased to be collaborating with the Digital Technology Supercluster and some the world’s leading companies to provide a food management system to support our front-line essential workers, patients and citizens,” said Food-X Technologies founder and chief executive officer Peter van Stolk. “We are humbled by the work that front-line workers are performing and are grateful we can contribute our deep knowledge of grocery management systems to this important effort.”

The company states that an e-grocery management system that manages food quality and freshness and optimizes packing and deliveries will ensure fresh food is delivered to front-line workers and patients, while simultaneously ensuring food security for Canadians throughout the COVID crisis.

“Our supercluster is honoured to be collaborating on such a critical project with Food-X and its partners,” said Sue Paish, CEO of the Digital Technology Supercluster. “Using technology to ensure the health of our front-line essential workers is just one example of how our community collaborates to address some of the greatest challenges this pandemic presents.”

Food-X is a food delivery platform that allows multiple retailers to access industry-leading technology, warehousing, food preparation and delivery services. The company is able to consolidate orders from all of its customers onto fewer trucks, thereby reducing the environmental impact for everyone. Food-X’s first location was opened in Burnaby, B.C., in 2018 and the company plans to open locations across Canada through 2019 and beyond.
