SunOpta shares expansion plans

Brampton, Ont. – SunOpta Inc. has announced that it has expanded its value-added processing capabilities in its Pacific Fruit Processors and SunOpta Food Solutions operating divisions.
Pacific Fruit Processors, part of SunOpta Fruit Group, has completed installation of a new aseptic processing line that will have the capability to produce roughly 30 million pounds of product annually. According to the company, this additional capacity has the potential to generate up to $20 million in new projects and customers.
Meanwhile, SunOpta Food Solutions, a division of the SunOpta International Food Group, has installed two flexible pouch-filling lines at its facility in California. The lines will have a combined capacity of 36 million pouches.
The food and ingredients giant has also completed plans for a processing plant on the east coast of the U.S., which will feature two additional flexible pouch filling lines. This facility is expected to be operational by August 2012.
