
SunOpta opens new Dutch facility
New plant will boost cocoa processing capacity

Brampton, Ont. – SunOpta Inc. has announced that it will open a facility in Middenmeer, Netherlands in order to grow its cocoa processing business.
The facility will be operated by Crown of Holland, a new SunOpta subsidiary, and will process cocoa into cocoa liquor, butter and powder. The plant is expected to process approximately 9,000 tonnes of raw cocoa per year.
According to the Brampton, Ont.-based company, the move is part of its plan to expand its organic and specialty cocoa business for the specialty chocolate sector. Organic and specialty cocoa products are currently processed for SunOpta by third-party processors.
