Business Operations layoffsMeasures will rationalize operations, reduce redundancies
Atlanta, Ga. – Coca-Cola Co. has announced that it will lay off approximately 750 employees from across the U.S. in coming months.
The company says the cuts represent one per cent of its total Canadian and American workforce. Cuts will be made throughout the business, rather than in a particular division, although about a quarter of those will be from its Atlanta operations.
In February the company also said it would cut the number of its divisions from seven to three, and cited the structure of its successful foodservice operations as a model for other divisions.
The move is part of an effort to streamline operations and reduce redundancies, following the company’s purchase in 2010 of the North American business of its largest bottler, Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. The purchase brought with it about 70,000 employees.
