Beginning August 12 through the 19th, the first ever Alberta Local Food Week is an opportunity for the local food industry to celebrate its growth, providing consumers a chance to meet local farmers and entrepreneurs to help grow, make and harvest Alberta products.

The event is scheduled for the third week of August annually.

The Alberta Local Food Week is a chance to visit approved provincial Farmer’s Markets in the area; pick your own fresh fruits and vegetables from u-pick farms; and to plan the ultimate local food experience at Open Farm Days on August 18-19.

The Open Farm Days involves farms and ranches across Alberta opening their doors to visitors, and providing tours for consumers to understand how food gets from farm to plate. As well, many of the province’s chefs and rural communities will host farm-to-table events showcasing Alberta’s farm products.
