
New Brunswick poultry plant now fully operational

Clair, N.B. – The Sunnymel poultry processing plant in Clair, N.B., is now fully operational, after more than two years of planning and construction.
The slaughter, cutting and deboning plant will serve the entire Maritime region, and will operate under the Sunnymel name. Sunnymel L.P. is the company formed by a partnership between Saint-François-de-Madawaska, N.B.-based Groupe Westco Inc., and St-Hyacinthe, Que.’s Olymel L.P.
The $50-million facility will process 12,000 chickens per hour, or 450,000 poultry per week, with approximately 200 employees. The plant began to gradually start up operations last fall.
