Food In Canada

The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), invests $5 million in Breadsource Corporation, a manufacturer of baked goods that serves a range of foodservice companies, schools, grocery stores, and restaurants across Canada.

This investment will support Breadsource in equipping a next-generation, energy-efficient bread production facility in Scarborough, Ont., that will allow the company to enhance production and offer 40 new bakery products, including gourmet potato rolls and sourdough breads.

“Our food manufacturers, like Breadsource Corporation, are critical to the well-being of our residents and communities. This announcement will support a local business as it grows and strengthens its production capacity and reduces its environmental impact, while creating over 35 valuable jobs for the region,” said John McKay, MP, Scarborough–Guildwood.

“Funding support from FedDev Ontario will allow us to continue growing our business through the expansion of our production facility and adoption of state-of-the-art automation required to increase our capacity and diversify our product offerings. This funding is key to our growth, allowing us to create more skilled jobs and positioning us to serve increasing consumer demand for high quality bread products throughout Ontario and beyond,” added Arif Sunderji, vice-president, Breadsource Corporation.
