Canada has long been at the forefront of innovation and supply of plant-based food, feed and ingredients, but the country is set to triple its agrifood market value by 2035.

With this projected growth, trailblazing companies, investors and agrifood leaders are looking at Canada as their hub to foster innovation, growth and prosperity for the plant-based food sector.

To capitalize on this growth, Pulse Canada, Protein Industries Canada and Plant-Based Foods of Canada are hosting Plant Forward, the first international event showcasing Canada’s plant-based food and ingredient supply and innovation, coming to Toronto, Canada, November 1-2, 2022.

Plant Forward invites the new generation of leaders at the forefront of the global food industry to gain diverse perspectives on the evolving plant-based sector, understand the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead of a plant-based future, and learn about the natural and agricultural advantages that Canada offers.

At the most anticipated event in plant-based foods, you’ll find out why investors and trailblazing companies are choosing Canada as their preferred place to do business and invest in plant-based innovation.

Leading the conversation will be entrepreneur and award-winning podcaster Amber Mac, VBites Founder Heather Mills and OMD Founder Suzy Amis Cameron. Heather will open the conference with a keynote on the future of food — an indulging presentation that will lay the groundwork on where the industry is heading.  Suzy will wrap the conference in a closing keynote titled “Curated Reflections on the Future of Plant-Based Foods.”

Plant Forward’s robust agenda covers themes across the ecosystem from R&D and access to capital, to sustainability goals and opportunities for innovation.

Melanie Levine will present “providing a deeper understanding of challenges and opportunities for achieving sustainability goals.” This presentation and panel discussion will offer a global perspective on the sustainability agenda as it pertains to the food sector and plant-forward foods in particular; highlight the role of food and agriculture companies in achieving the food systems transformation; and underscore how plant-forward foods connect three sustainability imperatives: climate, nature, and equity.

Multi-national companies will share what they imagine to be next for the plant-based sector. Leaders from AGT Foods and Ingredients, Danone Canada and Greenleaf Foods will investigate the sector’s future in a discussion with moderator Leslie Ewing from Plant-Based Foods of Canada.

Dan Altschuler Malek, Managing Partner for Unovis Asset Management, has an eye on the investments in plant-based businesses. Dan explains there is an opportunity here for Canada to win, but industry needs to know what investors are really looking for to make that happen.

Explore what entrepreneurs on the leading edge of innovation imagine to be next at the “Whitespace Opportunities for the Plant-Based Sector’s Future” panel. Joseph Lake, CEO of the Canadian Food Innovation Network, will lead a panel discussion with CEOs of Canadian plant-based food and tech companies as they discuss the sector’s future.
