By Food in Canada Staff
Food Safety Regulation Research & Development Health & Wellness allergens Health Canada SafetyAllerGen NCE Inc., the Allergy, Genes and Environment Network, has partnered with Health Canada to launch a national study to determine how prevalent food allergies are among Canadians, and the effectiveness of allergen warnings on food labels. It’s hoped that the results will help food companies develop clear and safe labelling and Canadian policy makers ensure that sufficient health and education resources are allocated to help prevent, diagnose and manage allergic diseases. The study, Surveying Canadians to Assess the Prevalence of Common Food Allergies and Attitudes toward Food Labelling and Risk, will survey 9,000 individuals across the country.
