March 10, 2020, Auburn, Ky. – Champion Petfoods, which was originally founded in Barrhead, Alta., is launching three new pet food lines as global demand for its dog and cat food continues to grow.

The new lines include: dog food recipe ORIJEN Small Breed; cat food recipe ACANA Cat; and an enhanced recipe of its ACANA Singles line.

The new lines will be available at specialty pet retailers nationwide in mid- to late-April.

The company said in a press release that pet lovers are increasingly turning to small breed dogs as pets as more consumers are moving into urban areas with smaller living spaces.

ORIJEN Small Breed is formulated to support a small dog’s immune system and joint mobility for active living and healthy aging. Its recipe is designed to offer a diet that is brimming with animal protein from free-run chicken, turkey, and quail, and three kinds of whole, wild-caught fish.

For pet lovers with cats, Champion is announcing four new ACANA Cat recipes and three enhanced recipes which contain enhanced antioxidants to support a healthy immune system, and freeze-dry coated kibble for a taste that cats crave.

Champion chief marketing officer Rod Troni stated that, “Champion is all about offering premium recipes with the health of pets as our primary focus. The new recipes provide better quality options for a larger segment of the pet population.

“With the trend in small breed ownership our new ORIJEN Small Breed and ACANA Cat recipes meet the growing needs of today’s pet lovers who demand quality and trust.”

Champion, which distributes its ORIJEN and ACANA brands to almost 100 countries around the globe, recently opened a new kitchen in Acheson, Alta.
