Horsholm, Denmark – Chr. Hansen has launched a probiotic that can survive in fruit juice throughout the juice product’s shelf life.
The product is called L. casei 431 Juice and is a probiotic developed to survive in low pH environments such as chilled juice and juice drinks.
L. casei 431 Juice contains Lactobacillus paracasei 431. The company says this strain has a long history of use in yogurts and dietary supplement products.
It has a survival rate of eight weeks and has no side effects in the beverage such as unpleasant off-flavour or gas formation.
