CAHC to update and develop codes of practice for poultry, other farm animals
Guelph, Ont. – Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has announced an investment of more than $2 million in funding to the Canadian Animal Health Coalition (CAHC), a not-for-profit organization serving Canada’s farmed animal industry.
The funding will allow the CAHC to develop and update poultry codes and advance best practices for the care and handling of farm animals.
The organization will build on work already done by the National Farm Animal Care Council to update care codes for the poultry sector, and to develop three new codes of practice for other sectors.
The new guidance material that will be developed will allow farmers access to the most up-to-date codes and assessment programs, ensuring consumers that animals have been raised following the strictest standards of animal welfare.
