February 26, 2020, Boucherville, Que. – Plant-based pioneer Silk is kicking off 2020 with unsweetened additions to its portfolio of plant-based beverages and yogurt-style products.

A new Oat Yeah Unsweetened! beverage follows the fall 2019 Canadian launch of the brand’s range of oat beverage products – the fastest-growing segment of the non-dairy beverage market. The product contains the brand’s signature creamy taste and texture, with zero grams of sugar, and no artificial colours or flavours – the only product of its kind in Canada.

The beverage will be sold in grocery and big-box stores for a suggested retail price of $4.99 in 1.75-litre size.

Silk is also adding new unsweetened options to its portfolio of plant-based yogurt-style products with the launch of Silk Almond Yogurt Style Plain. The product features live and active cultures in an almond base that is free of dairy, lactose, artificial colours and flavours.

The yogurt is available in grocery and big-box stores for a suggested retail price of $6.99 in 640-gram size.

“Silk is proud to lead the way in showing Canadians that plant-based food and beverages are not only a healthy choice – they can also be delicious,” Genevieve Bolduc, marketing director, plant-based category at Danone Canada, said in a press release.

“Almost half of all consumers say that low sugar or sugar-free characteristics are important when they decide on a food or beverage product, so we’re proud to introduce original products that meet that demand. Silk was founded on the principle of healthy innovation, and we have a responsibility to offer options that help people live better.”
