May 14, 2020, Toronto, Ont. – In response to the staggering increase in communities facing food insecurity, the LCBO has launched a fundraising campaign to sustain essential food relief programs across Ontario.

Beginning May 15, customers who are able can donate $2, $5 or $10 alongside their purchase at LCBO stores across Ontario and online at LCBO.com.

To ensure support for various food relief models and in order to provide the greatest impact province-wide, the LCBO is taking an innovative community investment approach. Donations raised from the campaign will support Feed Ontario, Community Food Centres Canada and Second Harvest.

“This campaign is rooted in our Spirit of Sustainability platform to improve the well-being of Ontarians,” said George Soleas, president and CEO, LCBO. “We recognize the immense and lasting impact our fundraising campaigns have on our communities and our responsibility to answer the urgent call for support during a time of crisis.

“I want to thank our customers for their generosity, especially during this time, and our employees for their dedication and hard work. Because of them, we will provide necessary funding to these vital organizations that are doing tremendous work to support Ontarians during the COVID-19 pandemic and through recovery.”

Donations from the campaign will sustain the ongoing food relief programs that will be essential in order to meet the long-term impact that COVID-19 may have on food security.
