Chocolate replica of Memorial Cup on display during the National Junior Championships

Mississauga, Ont. – Hershey Canada is getting into the spirit of the Memorial Cup with a 60-lb chocolate replica of the prized trophy on display during the annual Canadian Hockey League (CHL) round robin tournament.

The 93rd MasterCard Memorial Cup takes place at Mississauga’s Hershey Centre May 20 to 29, and celebrates the best in Canadian Major Junior hockey.

This year three CHL leagues will compete for the cup: Western Hockey League champions the Kootenay Ice; Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champs the Saint John Sea Dogs; Ontario Hockey League champs the Owen Sound Attack; and host team Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors.

To commemorate the event Hershey Canada commissioned sculptor Jim Victor to make a replica of the Cup entirely out of Hershey’s chocolate. The sculpture took 400 hours to complete, and will be on display during the playoffs in the Hershey Centre’s Hall of Heroes for Fan Fest.
