Foodland Ontario received the Ontario Tender Fruit Growers’ Annual Award of Merit on March 28, accepted by Ernie Hardeman, Ontario’s Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

“As Ontario’s Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, I’m proud of our work to increase awareness of locally grown produce,” said Hardeman in a statement. “When consumers see the Foodland Ontario logo, they can be sure they’re buying fresh, high-quality products and supporting our local farmers.”

“Our government knows our growers work hard to help feed the people of Ontario. They’re an important part of our communities and contribute to our economy and quality of life. That’s why we are committed to fighting for our farmers, and making it easier for all of those in the agri-food sector to thrive in Ontario.”

The statement also said by improving Ontario’s financial health, Ontario agriculture will further improve the environment in which agrifood businesses operate, to create jobs, grow our economy and grow more food.
