MILTON, Ont. —Every summer and fall for the past 50 years, generations of families have made the trip to Chudleigh’s Farm in Milton, Ont. to pick apples, visit the animals, ride the tractors, climb the hay bales—getting everyone to feel like a kid again by feeding their inner child. And topping off so many of those visits is the taste of Chudleigh’s signature treat, the Apple Blossom.
While everyone is still encouraged to visit the fram, Chudleigh’s has announced the arrival of its baked goods in the freezer aisle of grocery stores and other speciality retailers.
“It was my mom, Carol Chudleigh, who first began baking apple pie for visitors to the farm,” says Chudleigh’s Farm co-owner Scott Chudleigh. “She would bake them in our oven and serve them warm, by the slice. It was only when a customer came in asking to take a whole pie home did she realize that she may be onto something. Even though we don’t make our pies in her kitchen anymore, we take the same approach as she did all those years ago: made-from-scratch recipes and a commitment to quality, fresh ingredients.”
The line-up of Chudleigh’s baked goods now available at grocery stores includes the farm’s signature Apple Blossoms as well as Molten Chocolate Lava Cakes and Butter Toffee Sticky Cakes. Every product is frozen fresh from the oven at Chudleigh’s bakery in Milton—just minutes down the road from the farm itself.
“A lot of people are surprised that we decided to offer frozen desserts,” adds Dean Chudleigh, Scott’s brother and the bakery’s co-owner. “But frozen is the closest way that people can experience the taste of our desserts—no matter where they are—fresh from their ovens, without unnecessary preservatives or processes.”
Each product can simply be reheated in the microwave in under a minute. The complete collection of
