Wrigley Canada to close gum facility

Toronto plant to be shuttered next March

Toronto, Ont. – Wrigley Canada has announced it will close its Toronto gum processing facility in March 2016.

Production will move to the company’s Gainesville, Ga. location, putting 383 people out of work. Wrigley Canada’s headquarters will remain in Toronto. Wrigley Canada also has Ontario business operations in Bolton, Guelph and Newmarket.

According to the company, the closure comes as the result of declining gum sales in recent years.
