Sunrise Soya Foods expands

Canadian tofu manufacturer Sunrise Soya Foods is adding a new facility to meet market appetite for plant-based foods. Sunrise Soya Foods is Canada’s only tofu manufacturer that has distribution nationwide.

The company has manufacturing facilities in Vancouver and Toronto, and the newest production facility will be built in Delta, B.C. The addition marks a significant milestone for both the company and for the Joe family, who founded Sunrise Soya Foods 60 years ago.

Being Canada’s largest tofu producer, Peter Joe, CEO of Sunrise said in a release that the company ” aims to increase public awareness around the health benefits of tofu as a nutritious and versatile ingredient,” and that it takes pride in tofu and the creative ways it can be used in everyday recipes,” states Peter Joe, Chief Executive Officer at Sunrise.

“We own the top product in the market with our Sunrise Extra-Firm Tofu,” states Kala Patel, Vice President of Marketing, “We are proud to be the leading tofu brand in Canada, and this expansion allows us to keep pace with the demand for plant-based foods, which seems to grow more and more each year.”

Sunrise brands included Sunrise, Soyganic and Mandarin. Products can be found across Canada in major grocery chains, natural health food stores, Asian independent supermarkets, produce wholesalers and in regions of the United States.
