Saputo will integrate production into other Quebec facilities

Montreal, Que. – Saptuo Inc. has announced that it is closing its cheese processing facility in Warwick, Que.

According to the company, the Warwick plant will close in June 2014, affecting 100 employees. Production will be integrated into its other Quebec processing facilities.

The announcement is the latest in a series of moves designed to improve the company’s operating efficiencies. Late last year the company revealed it would close a processing plant in Winkler, Man. in January 2014. And earlier this year Saputo announced it plans to shutter cheese-processing plants in Germany and Wales, saying that its European business was not profitable.

Saputo is the largest dairy processor in Canada, and the 12th largest in the world.
