B.C.-based Premium Brands Holdings Corporation's Washington-based subsidiary – Hempler Foods Group – has acquired sausage maker Isernio's in Kent, Wash.
Vancouver, B.C. – Premium Brands Holdings Corporation has acquired a Kent, Wash.-based premium sausage company.
Isernio’s had its start in the early 1980s when Frank Isernio began making his homemade sausages for friends and family. From there he began selling to restaurants.
“I believe that Premium Brands and Hempler’s are the right partners for the business, based on our common cultures, shared values and commitment to producing premium quality products. I am certain that this is the right path for Isernio’s and its employees,” says Frank Isernio, president, CEO and founder of Isernio’s.
Today the company manufactures out of a new 27,750-sq.-ft. facility and produces chicken and pork sausages and rolls, international sausages and ground meat. Isernio’s has sales of approximately US$14 million.
Premium Brands says the company was a draw because of its strong management team, authentic specialty foods brand and a niche market-based business strategy.
The acquisition also gives Hempler’s a second production facility. Hempler’s has seen 20 per cent growth over the past few years, which has created ongoing production capacity challenges.
Premium Brands owns a range of specialty food manufacturing and differentiated food distribution businesses with operations in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nevada, Ohio and Washington State.
The company has customers located across North America and its family of brands and businesses include Grimm’s, Harvest, McSweeney’s, Bread Garden Go, Hygaard, Hempler’s, Isernio’s, Quality Fast Foods, Direct Plus, Harlan Fairbanks, Creekside Bakehouse, Stuyver’s Bakestudio, Centennial Foodservice, B&C Food Distributors, Shahir, Wescadia, Duso’s, Maximum Seafood, Ocean Miracle, SK Food Group, OvenPride, Hub City Fisheries, Audrey’s, Deli Chef, Piller’s and Freybe.
