A new campaign from Ontario’s greenhouse growers is an ambitious program to encourage consumers to buy local

Windsor, Ont. – Ontario’s greenhouse growers have launched a new marketing campaign to kick off the spring season.

The new Naturally Fresh Inside campaign was unveiled this month by the Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers (OGVG).

The CBC.ca calls it an ambitious marketing program to boost sales and convince consumers to buy local.

The campaign includes in-store sampling, point-of-sale educational material, flyer promotions, radio spots, social media advertising and a partnership with Foodland Ontario on the Retail Display Contest.

A new emblem will be featured on in-store materials provided by the OGVG.

Consumers can find updates and event locations on OGVG’s website, www.ontariogreenhouse.com, or on the group’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ONgreenhouseVeg.

The CBC.ca reports that the new campaign is starting just as offshore and import vegetable supplies are tailing off. It’s perfect timing for the industry to work on getting its share of the market back.

Greenhouse growers in Ontario produce 300 million English cucumbers, 165 million pounds of bell peppers and more than 420 million pounds of tomatoes each year.
