Thamesford, Ont. – Cold Springs Farm has announced it will upgrade its facility, allowing it to increase production and innovate.
With the help of an investment from the Ontario Rural Economic Development (RED) Program, the turkey processor plans on creating 30 new jobs, introducing new products, and buying more turkey from the province’s producers.
Already the company has added new processing equipment, increased refrigeration capacity, and made improvements to boost efficiency throughout the facility.
“This investment is a significant opportunity for Cold Springs Farm and the Ontario turkey industry at large,” says Jeff McDowell, vice-president of Poultry for Maple Leaf Consumer Foods. “As the largest employer in Thamesford, the RED grant will allow us to source more turkey from Ontario farmers and increase product innovation, benefiting employees, producers and consumers.”
