OIMP announces winners

Ontario’s Finest Meat Competition winners were announced at a gala awards evening in February as part of the Ontario Independent Meat Processors annual conference.
More than 100 premium meat or poultry products were submitted for the competition. Categories included: Ham, Country Style Bacon, Coiled, Cold Cuts, Deli Roasts, Fermented Sausage, Premium Dry Cured, Fresh Sausage, Cooked and/or Smoked Sausage, Innovative Product, Home Meal Replacement, and Homegrown Ontario Beef Steak.
The Platinum winners of the competition were:
-Paisanella Salami, Bona Foods, Toronto;
-Authentic Greek Chicken Gyros Cone, D & D Poultry, Toronto;
-Prosciutto, Florence Meats, Oakville;
-Franz’s Own Country Style Ham, Franz’s Butcher Shop, Peterborough;
-Porketta, Halenda’s Fine Foods, Oshawa;
-Turkey Kielbossa, Schinkel’s Legacy, Chatham;
-Jalapeño & Cheddar Smoked Sausage, Schinkel’s Legacy, Chatham;
-Montreal Smoked Bacon, Stemmler Meats & Cheese Inc., Heidelberg;
-Bacon, Townsend Butchers, Simcoe;
-Chicken Pot Pie, VG Meats, Simcoe;
-Prime Rib Sausage, The Village Kitchen, Markham; and -Ontario’s Pride Strip loin Steak, West Grey Premium Beef, Durham.
