Processor continues consolidation plans for poultry operations
Toronto, Ont. – Maple Leaf Foods has announced it will close its poultry processing plant in Ayr, Ont. this May. The closure will eliminate 100 jobs.
The move is part of the company’s on-going plans to consolidate its further processed poultry operations into its Ontario facilities in Brantford and Mississauga. Production at the two locations include fully cooked, partially cooked and marinated frozen chicken products.
Maple Leaf says it will invest $6.5 million in the two facilities, and will add approximately 75 jobs.
