Winnipeg, Man. – Granny’s Poultry Cooperative has announced it will acquire Prairie Produce Inc. According to Granny’s, the move is part of its ongoing commitment to poultry processing in Manitoba, as well as its position as a producer of healthy, convenient meal options.
Prairie Produce, a federally inspected turkey further processor, produces specialty and low-sodium turkey roasts and rolls primarily for the healthcare, foodservice and institutional markets. The company will continue to operate with current employees under Granny’s management.
Granny’s, a farmer-owned cooperative, is Manitoba’s largest poultry processor. The manufacturer has recently introduced several new better-for-you products, including poultry infused with flax, reduced in sodium and certified through the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Both companies are based in Winnipeg.
“This acquisition shows our continued commitment to our producers, the poultry industry, and is a logical expansion to our business,” said Granny’s CEO Craig Evans, in making the announcement.
