Midland, Ont. – General Mills has revealed that it is restructuring its Midland, Ont. Pillsbury plant, resulting in the loss of 38 jobs.
According to the Midland Free Press, General Mills is committed to keeping the plant open. However, a restructuring was necessary due to more challenging economic conditions for food manufacturers over the past year, including higher costs for ingredients and energy.
Sheila Kley, manager of Corporate Public Relations for Minneapolis, Minn.-based General Mills, told the Free Press that the decision “aligns our workforce to better reflect business needs and enables our Midland facility to stay competitive in the current operating environment.”
