London, Ont. – Dr. Oetker’s planned frozen pizza facility for the London, Ont. area will receive an additional $12 million in government funding, allowing it to create more than 300 new jobs.
Plans for the processing facility were announced in July 2011 (See article “Dr. Oetker coming to London, Ontario”). Dr. Oetker will invest $113 million in the new plant, which will become its first North American frozen pizza manufacturing facility, warehouse and distribution centre.
The Hon. Gary Goodyear, minister of state for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, confirmed that FedDev Ontario will contribute $10 million towards construction of the facility and equipment costs, while Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada will provide $2 million to help buy additional food processing equipment. Goodyear noted that the investment will help create more economic opportunities for the region.
