
Family beverage business acquired by industry veteran

Brampton, Ont. – After a century of private ownership, Brampton’s Sun Pac Foods Ltd. has been acquired by Liquidbrands Inc., a private investment firm owned by beverage industry veteran Csaba Reider.
Under the terms of the acquisition, Reider will become Sun Pac’s new president and CEO. Reider previously held senior positions at Mississauga, Ont.’s Cott Corporation, and was president and CEO of energy drink maker Xyience.
Sun Pac was established in 1887, and has been owned by the J.S. Riddell family since the mid-1930s. Its products include health-focused juices, natural teas, sports drinks, juice concentrates and frozen juices. It also manufactures croutons and crumbs under the McDowell Ovens brand. Its 355,000-sq.-ft. Brampton processing plant is one of the largest independent hot-fill beverage facilities in North America.
