Hain Celestial buys frozen-fruit processor from J.M. Smucker

Vancouver, B.C. – Hain Celestial Canada, a subsidiary of Melville, N.Y.-based The Hain Celestial Group, Inc., has acquired Europe’s Best from the Canadian subsidiary of The J.M. Smucker Company.

Smucker Foods of Canada Corp. bought the processor of frozen fruit and vegetables in 2008. This new acquisition represents Hain Celestial’s move into the frozen fruit and vegetable market in Canada.

The company says the buyout will allow Hain Celestial to add Europe’s Best product lines to other distribution channels in North America.

“We plan to cross-promote Europe’s Best with other Hain Celestial brands to create healthier eating options including smoothies and yogurt,” says Beena Goldenberg, president of Hain Celestial Canada. “We also expect to expand into organic fruits and vegetables and drive multi-brand growth with product extensions and on-the-go product offerings.”
