Limited Canadian demand means brands will move south of the border

Montreal, Que. – Molson Coors Brewing Co. is moving production of its Molson Golden and Molson Ice brands from its Toronto facility to the MillerCoors brewery in Trenton, Ohio.

According to Beer Business Daily, the brands have limited demand in Canada. The move will mean the two labels will be brewed closer to their consumer base.

The Trenton, Ohio brewery is operated by Chicago, Ill.-based MillerCoors LLC, a joint venture of SABMiller PLC and Molson Coors Brewing Co. The facility currently brews 10 million barrels of beer per year, and more than 60 different brands.

The company notes that its flagship brand, Molson Canadian, will continue to be brewed in Toronto.
