Par-Pak expansion to create 25 jobs

BRAMPTON, Ont.—Plastic packager Par-Pak is investing $14 million to expand its Brampton, Ont. facility.

The plant manufactures PET containers primarily for the food industry.

Vice-president of sales Glenn Armstrong says the expansion will create about 25 new jobs in areas such as production, maintenance, quality control and engineering.

Par-Pak is installing a new 40 mm lb PET extrusion line. It will also be adding six new, high-speed thermoforming machines by the end of this year.

The upgrades are expected to be completed by early next year, Armstrong says.

The company is also making changes to its international operations.

In Houston, Texas, the company has bought a larger building and will be moving in by year-end. The new location has 95,000 sq. ft of manufacturing and office space.

In Milton Keynes, UK, Par-Pak Europe has purchased a 54,000 sq. ft. facility to provide additional warehouse space.

Armstrong says the expansions will help support the company’s PET and OPS extrusion and thermoforming business.

“We’re seeing lot of growth in that area,” he says.
