Add value with hemp ingredients

Toronto – CK Ingredients has announced the launch of several hemp-based food ingredients that can help food manufacturers capitalize on growing consumer interest in hemp.

Toasted hemp seeds are available with and without kosher sea salt seasoning, and can be HempSeeds200x200consumed as a stand-alone snack or used as a bulk ingredient.

They add nutritional value (29 grams of dietary fibre, 26 grams of protein and seven grams of omega-3 fatty acids per 100 grams), nutty flavour, crunch, eye appeal and marketing appeal to a wide range of foods, including bakery products, nutrition/snack bars, cereals, trail mixes, and more.

Coarse hemp is a powder that is a co-product of the milling and classification of hemp protein powder and flours from hemp seed cake. It is rich in dietary fibre (66 grams per 100 grams of material), a host of vitamins and minerals, and offers an affordable solution to leveraging hemp on food product labels. Also well-suited to baked goods and nutrition/snack bars as well as smoothies, it’s available in both conventional and organic format, and is produced in Canada by an accredited hemp grower/processor.
