Buy a ticket and enjoy Spanish-inspired food at Thistletown Collegiate's fundraiser to help send its culinary students to Spain in 2019

Toronto – Thistletown Collegiate’s culinary students are inviting everyone to enjoy a tasty fundraiser.

On Sept. 23, 2017, the school, its budding chefs and some of Toronto’s best chefs are holding the Thistletown Chefs Harvest Garden Party.

Guests are invited to stroll through the school’s 14,000 sq.-ft. organic garden and enjoy Spanish-inspired food from various stations. Children under age 12 dine free when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.

Thistletown Collegiate is situated in Rexdale in the north west end of the city. In a statement, the school says many of its students face economic challenges.

While many culinary schools and programs organize international trips for its students, Thistletown is fund raising so its students can enjoy the experience. Past fundraisers have helped the students visit Italy and France. Proceeds from the Sept. 23 event will go towards a student trip to Spain in 2019.

The event includes an on-site cooking demonstration and a silent auction.

The chef line up includes Chef Nick Liu (Dailo), Chef Trevor Lui (Kanpai Snack Bar), Chef Christine Cushing, Chef Shahir Massoud (Levetto, CBC’s The Goods), Chef John Placko (Modern Culinary Academy), Chef Dan Craig (Ritz-Carlton), Chef Keith Pears (Delta Toronto), Steve Gonzalez (Baro), Michael Olson (Niagara Food & Wine Inst.), Steffany Singh (Beau Bakery), Rene Chauvin (Centennial College) and Thistletown’s Culinary instructor Chef Keith Hoare.
